MATERIALS
for fabrication of work which will be exposed to view, use only materials which are smooth and free of surfaces blemishes including pitting, rust and scale seam marks, roller marks, rolled trade names and roughness. Remove such blemishes by grinding, or by welding and grinding, prior to cleaning, treating and application of surface finishes.

- Comply with NAAM “Metal Finishes Manual” for recommendations relative to, application and designation of finishes.
- Appearance of finishes work: Variations in appearance of a butting or adjacent piece are not acceptable if they are within ½ of range of approved samples. Noticeable variations in the same piece are not acceptable. Variations in appearance of three components are not acceptable if they are within range of approved samples and they are assembled or installed to minimize contrast.
- Structural Steel Protective coating system
- Galvanizing for tubes and purlins: hot dip galvanizing to ASTM A123, 100 microns minimum.
- Additional protective coating: electrostatic factory applied coating of approved color, minimum dry film thickness 80 microns. Coating is to be oven baked at 200 deg. C. FOR 10-20 minutes.
Submit for approval the protective coating system proposed to ensure life expectancy of twenty years without maintenance, taking into consideration climatic conditions. A written guarantee should be submitted for the paint system.
